Born October 4, 1936 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Horace C. Rarick and the late Madalyn (Rarick) Nash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Stewart Lynn Turbett, grandmother, Grace (Brown) Turbett, sister, Mona Dean Rarick and brother, Edward R. Gable, Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Maryetta R. Rarick, Suffolk, VA and daughters, Lisa K. (Rarick) King and her husband William E. King, Jr., Suffolk, VA and Robyn S. Stambaugh, Sumter, S.C. three grandchildren: Wilson I. Emel, Lake Forest, CA; Maggie C. Weatherly, Sumter, S.C.; and Nathaniel R. King, Chesapeake, VA and four great-grandchildren.
He was a Sgt. in the United States Army enlisting in July 26, 1955 with the 101st Airborne Division and was honorably discharged July 16, 1958. He was a member of the 187th ARCT Honor Guard.
He retired on May 1, 1994 as a Detective Sergeant from the Lewistown Borough/Mifflin County Regional Police Department, Lewistown, PA after 26 years of dedicated service to his community.
He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Altamonte Springs, FL; Lifetime Member of the Fraternal Order of Police; 3rd Degree member Knights of Columbus Council #12761, and Lifetime member B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1600.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666 with honors rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
