Ronnie graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1969 and later attended V.C.U. He worked in the design department of the Newport News Shipbuilding which was a spring board for his first career with Stone and Webster Engineering. He played a role in the construction of numerous nuclear power plants all over the country including the North Anna Plant and the plant in Surry, Virginia. Ronnie rose quickly in this company and was proud of his accomplishments there. After leaving Stone and Webster, Ronnie returned to his native Hampton Roads and after a brief apprenticeship with a small building company, started his own construction company, Signature Homes by Ronnie Headrick. With his experience managing large industrial projects, Ronnie was a quick study in residential construction. He built numerous custom houses throughout Hampton Roads, mostly in Smithfield and Isle of Wight Co. Ronnie built a good house always attending to the details in a diligent and professional manner. This business allowed Ronnie to realize his dream of owning his own business. He was successful as a builder and at just about everything else he set his mind on doing.
Ronnie loved golf and in his prime golfing years was a low handicapper. Nobody loved the water more than Ronnie. Whether the fish were biting or not, he just loved to be in a boat on the water. College football, music, hunting, dancing, history and spending time with his dear family were other things that Ronnie had passion for in his life. He was always well dressed wherever he went and had lots of fun when it came time to party. Generous, humorous and kind, he will be missed by all who knew him.
Ronnie was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Martha and his dear son, Sloan. He will be missed by his sister, Donna Lintelman, brothers, David Headrick and Roger Headrick, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia 23666.
