Obituary of Rosie Lee Green
Rosie Lee Green, 85, was called home to her heavenly father, after the reading of the Lord’s Prayer at her home in Yorktown, Virginia, on January 31st, 2023 in the presence of Pastor Clay and her loving family. Rosie was born in Morgan City, Mississippi. She spent most of her childhood in St. Louis, Missouri being the eldest of ten siblings. That is also where she met the love of her life, her husband Willie Robert Green of Sixty-five years. Rosie believed that everyone was a descendant of our heavenly father; finding their way would be a journey of their own life lessons. She dedicated her time to being a devoted wife and mother to her two children while keeping her faith in her spiritual beliefs. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Debra Rader (Walter); her son Darren Green (Tania); her grandchildren, Carneal Brannigan (Sonya), Travis Brannigan (Katie), Alexander Rader, Demarus Green, and Izzy Green; great-grandchild Dezaria Green; surviving siblings, Sanders White (Anne), Bobby White (Marcia), Brenda White (Herman) and Dwayne White; and the family dog Lina who always greeted her with lots of barking, which brought out a joyful laugh in Rosie. Rosie is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Robert Green, and her siblings, Robert White, Evelyn White, Ronald White, Walter White, and Kay Johnson. She loved her family and friends and will be best remembered for her 30-second or less phone conversations, just enough to know that everyone was doing well. Rosie Green’s beautiful smile and generous heart of innocence will forever be missed, and her kindred spirit will live within all of us. The legacy that she leaves to her family and friends; there is always room to forgive and being humble warrants no shame. Having faith will be your strength that can never be taken. Rosie was a member of Whole Life Ministries of Augusta, Georgia. The family would like to express sincere gratitude and many thanks to HarmonyCares Hospice; Nurses Colleen, Rachel, Toni, and Joanne along with Pastor Clay, Ms. Kristen, Ms. Ashley, Mrs. Deborah, and the office support staff; that provided their time and gave exemplary care. The family would also like to acknowledge the staff of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, especially Ms. Nina Montanez; along with Elliott Sons Funeral Home for making Rosie’s journey home a pleasant experience. Celebration of life will be private with family and dear friends. Graveside service at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens in Augusta Georgia. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Humane Society of the United States.
