Ruby was a military wife who served her nation with faithfulness and honor. She had a strong work ethic at home. She worked diligently outside the home as well, including Thalhimers department store, where she worked from its opening to closing in Hampton.
She was an achiever and overcame many obstacles in her life. At the core of her being was her faith in Christ. She knew how to be strong when it was called for. With her quiet personality, she led many to Christ. Ruby was a lifelong learner and she took advantage of many education classes through the years. She spent her childhood in the mountains and enjoyed reminiscing about those times. She grew up as a PK (preacher's kid), and had a heart filled with the melody of many hymns.
She enjoyed gardening and grew stunning roses and azaleas. She was a wonderful cook and shared her talents with all of us on special occasions. Thanks be to God for the gift of Ruby Dickerson.
