Russell Lee Staten, beloved husband and devoted father, peacefully took his place with the Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Russ was born to the former Pastor, Elder Booker T. Staten and Sophonia J. Staten (both deceased). Russ was the youngest of eight children; four brothers and three sisters: Booker Staten (deceased), Deloris Guy, Lorine Pickett, David Staten (Mary), Christine Williams (deceased), William Staten, and Harry Staten (Mary). Russ was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and raised in Emporia, Virginia. After high school, he moved to Washington DC and attended the University of the District of Columbia, where he received an associate's degree in Business.
Russ enjoyed life to the fullest. He dreamed big, but worked harder. Few knew, but Russ was a great carpenter and could build exactly what he envisioned, even started his own security company. His motto was "we get it done". He enjoyed playing and watching basketball, volleyball, and football. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to and recording music of all genres. Music was something he connected with even in his final months of life. Russ loved a good get-together to include a variety of food and sweets, good company, and a game of Bid Whist. Russ was a people person, and he enjoyed making people smile, even if he did not know you. He used his gift while attending Legacy Bible Church in Middletown, Delaware. Russ is survived by his wife of 40+ years, Teresa Staten; daughter, Renae Myles; son-in-law, Courtland Myles; grandsons, Cayden and Chase (Myles); daughter, Tenille Staten; siblings, and a vast number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
