We had all wondered about Ruth.  She and Vernon were two of my favorites of my parents good friends, they hold a big space in my childhood memories.  I always loved to go and visit Ruth and Verna.  Ruth was a life saver to our family when my mother Sarah Barrett was near the end.  I will never forget Verna in parades and Ruth helping shell butter beans or sweet lazy days at Lake Gaston on the pontoon boat. What a wonderful woman Ruth was to everyone who came across her path.
Smart, kind, creative and a great sense of humor!

Lana and Mike, Joy and I were very sorry to hear about your mom. Whenever I pass your mom's old house I can't help but think of her. She was a very special person. I have great memories of her one of which was the many hours we spent playing canasta together. Our prayers are with you and your families during this time of loss and sadness.

I am really sorry to see that Mrs Lane has passed away,she was my Moms(Thelma Hargrave) next door neighbor in Hampton and was at Moms house every morning for a chat and coffee,she was a great lady and I offer my sympathy to her family,she'll be missed,I can't tell Mom about this because she is suffering from Alzheimers and knows no one and can't understand anything.
