Over the years our family, Bob, Nancy, and Erik have been attending the various races at Langley Speedway. Our favorite driver over the many years has been Shawn. He was in a class all of his own. He always greeted our son, Erik with that hugh smile and always asked how he was doing. Erik is Autistic and Shawn always took a very special interest in him whenever Erik met him in the meet and greet before the night of racing began. Erik will always remember and speak of Shawn's kindness to him. We'll miss you lots "Mighty Mouse". God speed.

My condolences to the Balluzzo family on their loss.  I worked with Shawn many years ago on his LMSC.  We had wonderful times racing, building  and repairing the car.  I enjoyed his friendship and spirit.  He was a special person.

I am shocked and sadden to learn of Shawn ‘s passing. He was a great guy, loving husband and father, and a gifted athlete. He will always be remembered for his good nature and his enduring smile.  He was extremely caring and kind-hearted, and his memory will always inspire reverence, dignity, and respect.  My deepest condolences to his beloved wife and his dear children.  I pray that they will be strengthened and consoled by his loving memory.

I have many memories of working on Shawn’s Late Model and Modified, the conversations over the radio and at the shop were all priceless. Shawn always made sure we were all having fun...mostly by changing a bunch of stuff on the car(s) such as gears, sway bars, springs, shocks, track bar height, rounds in/out here and there just to revert back to where we started. This mostly happened when it was 90+ degrees out...I miss you Shawn...The Balluzzo family always treated us as if we were their family, I love you all. Sarah and I are praying for you all

Shawn you were such a good friend and I will always cherish the time I spent with you on and off the track. Even know my heart hurts so bad right now I look forward to the day I will see you again. I will miss you my friend so much! Godspeed Brother but I will always smile when I think of the day I didn't tape the wing nut on the air cleaner and it ended up somewhere in row three during practice, The look I got was priceless no words the look said it all I will miss you so much

I started racing circle track at Langley Speedway in 1986 in the Late Model Stock division My pit crew knew about as much about  car setup for Langley as none of them had ever been to the track or ever worked on a race car. The only circle experience I had was watching from atop a Winnebago but I'm from  WVA where We raced on the curvy roads and honestly not bragging but I was pretty good at it. So I convinced myself I could be completive in this division about 6 races in the season Shawn Ballozzo saw my struggling and took my car to his shop and keep it from Sunday to Thursday working on it. He called me on Thursday and said to come pick up my car. I ask Shawn how much I owed him for what he had done and he said we'll talk about it when you get here. I went by the bank and withdrew $500.00 out of my account. Upon arriving at his shop once again I ask him how much do I owe you. He said how much did you owe me when you dropped the car off? I said nothing when I dropped it off. He said exactly and that's what you owe me now. He wouldn't take a dime for working on my car. Shawn no one will ever be able to fill your shoes as a caring human being or a race car driver. I guess God needed to call you home to race wit some of the greatest like Dale Earnhardt, Davy Allison and others that left us way too early. Your fans and the racing community will never forget you. You were and are one of a kind.


So sad…. The race car world lost a great person. A compassionate and loving person.  Hearts go out to his wife and children. You will never forget but it gets a little easier.

Shawn taught me everything I know about racing.....his was the first race team I helped with in 1994. My family loved him very much and he will be truly missed.  To Terry and the kids; you can be very proud that Shawn is loved and respected by so many. Our hearts go out to you!  God Bless!

37 years ago a Road Racer and an open wheel dirt guy  built our first NASCAR stock car together.  Boy, that first year  we provided the Entertainment  for Langley Speedway.  We knew nothing about asphalt stock car racing.  Shawn did two things always, he smiled and said thank you.  One thing he didn't do was give up, he gave everything he did 100%.   Shawn and I would go from shop to shop picking up pointers from everyone that raced at Langley.  A great family man, he had an incredible business sense and as a racer he would not give in.  Long before he started winning I promise you when we made the drive from Norfolk to the race track we believed we were going to win.  Shawn wouldn't accept anything less.  I only have many many fond memories, even the ones when we changed tranny's in the mud.  Godspeed Shawn.

Shawn was such a huge part of our families life when we lived in Va. He did so many things for my kids, once taking his race car to my oldest son's school for "show and tell" day. He left lasting memories and will be truly missed. Prayers go out to his family.

I met Shawn many years ago when he just started racing.  When i saw the news of his passing it brought back memories of my visits to Langley Speedway and watching him race. I was saddened by the news but it was great to read of his success on the track and the respect and admiration of his peers. To his family please accept my condolences and know your in my thoughts.

My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. 

I just wanted to take a moment to pass along my condolences to the entire Baluzzo family. I met Shawn in the summer of 1987 and worked on his cars for a few years. Shawn was one those guys who everybody liked. Working on the race team will always be a highlight of my time spent in Norfolk. I can remember one time we made the haul to Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas. Shawn made sure after all the hard wok that weekend that we found some time for some fun away from the track and took us all to King's Dominion. He wa a fierce competitor and a caring friend. Even when I moved away and started to build my own cars he always took the time to take my calls. He will be deeply missed by anyone who knew him.

My knowing Shawn goes back many years seeing him race at many different tracks in the region.  He always had a smile and a thank you for whenever you wished him good luck or to have a great run.  Outstanding family man, competitor, business man and someone who would at the drop of a hat help any competitor as the caring individual  he was. He was always thankful for the fans that would be at the track and never once in the times I was there to photo his wins did he ever fail to issue heartfelt thank you's to all involved in his success.  To all the Balluzzo family my prayers for Gods eternal peace be with you as life moves on.

I am so sorry for your loss.  No matter how much stress he might’ve been under, he always had a smile and a good word to say to everyone.  A fine example of showing love and compassion that many of us could do a little more of.  There is no doubt that he is now in Gods kingdom with that great smile.
