Mr. Sidney Armistead, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 18. He was a native of Brookneal, Virginia and a long-time resident of Hampton. Sidney retired after 42 years as an electrician with Newport News Shipbuilding in 1994.
Mr. Armistead was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gearldean. He is survived by his siblings, Clayton Armistead (Janice) of Salisbury, NC and Jean Woods (John) of Charlottesville; his son, Kenneth Armistead (Effie) of Fort Valley, Georgia; four grandchildren, Sandra Tyler of Hampton, William “Randy” Parker (Vera) of Lavernia, Texas, Rebecca Guynn (Mark) of Yorktown, and Melissa Parker of Chicago, IL.; as well as his great-grandchildren Guiseppe (Aga) and Frank Leonardi, and many beloved others.
The family will receive friends from 11am-1pm on Saturday, March 23rd at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home’s chapel in Hampton, VA, followed by a Celebration of Life Service officiated by Pastor Rusty Beck. Interment will occur at Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens on Monday, March 25th at 11am. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Baptist Church on behalf of the family.
