Just saw Steve’s obituary. I worked at the Hampton Walmart with him. He was always happy with a smile on his face. Will miss him. May God comfort the family at this time. Wanda Trulley


The UC Community is saddened to hear of the passing of one of our own, Steve Bontempo, Class of 1968.  We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and we are united in prayer for the repose of his soul.

Hard to believe that two weeks ago today, you were down at my house planning the big move. I will always remember your excitement that day. It's so hard to put into words how great a dad, grandfather, husband and friend you were. Thank you for introducing me to Jason, my husband of 20 years, who you loved liked he was one of your own. We will always remember how you lit up a room as soon as you walked in the door saying hello. You were always there for all of us when we needed you. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten! We will see you again one day.

I am sad that my friend and mean that, because more than 10 years ago I became one of his Bankers and he a n d later Brenda were awesome clients to service. Brenda, not telling you not to grieve, however with Stephen's smile and great personality, you have so much to pull on and be ecstatic about. If I can help in  any way, please let me know.

We shall miss his booming voice, hearty laugh and hugs for everyone.

You will be truly missed. A bright light on this earth has now been darkened except in the hearts of those who met you. RIP my friend.

God has once again taken an angel from us too soon. Steve was an amazing man. Always a light in the darkness. Always loving and so thoughtful. Never missed a chance to spread joy. I will miss him so much. Keeping Brenda and the family in thought and prayers. Rest, true and brave man. Thank you for your service and friendship.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family.  I worked with Steve for many years at Hampton  Walmart.  He was one of the nicest people, I have ever met. Everyone, including customers would love it when he would sing Happy birthday in his Elvis voice over the  PA system and tell his corny jokes every day.  He will truly be missed.

I worked with Steve on the ICS crew at Wal-Mart, will always remember his up beat personality, never a bad word to say about anyone, always ready to give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, he will be missed greatly. My prayers go out to his family, may God guide and comfort you during this sad time.

Although only five years older than Steve, I taught him my first year teaching at Union Catholic High School, in Scotch Plains, NJ. We've kept in touch over the years, and I am saddened by his death. My prayers and deepest sympathy to Brenda, his children and family. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm sad to read this today. I worked with Steve at Wal Mart many years ago and to this day he had to be one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Sending prayers to his family.

Steve was  a good man and a great co-worker at #1631. He would keep me laughing with his Elvis invitation.

I worked with Steve in the 70s and he was a good man---he will be missed.

One of the truly sweetest and good hearted, funny and hardworking people I have ever met. It was an honoring knowing you in this life !!!!  You will truly be missed Steve !!!!
