Terence "Terry" William Healy

Terence “Terry” William Healy, 63, of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; Hampton, Virginia; and East End, Grand Cayman, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Hampton, Virginia, after a courageous twenty-year battle with cancer.

Terry was born on February 27, 1963, in Arlington, Virginia, to William Anthony and Dorothy Agnes (Beck) Healy.

Terry believed learning was a lifelong pursuit and continuously pursued his interests in philosophy and technology. He graduated from Ascension Academy in Alexandria, VA, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The College of William and Mary and a master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Georgetown University. He later completed executive and professional certifications in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and leadership from Cornell University, Stanford University, The University of Oxford, and Harvard Business School.

Across three different industries, Terry built a distinguished career as a sales and operations executive known for delivering exceptional results while developing and managing high-performing teams.

Even after retiring from corporate leadership at age fifty-five, Terry had an encore career as a co-founder and author. In 2023, he co-founded Cazandra, a professional services firm based in Argentina, and published two books, "Eternal Echoes" (2024) and "Simulacrum: Unveiling the Layers of Reality" (2025).

Terry’s passion for mentoring others was a keystone in his life and career. He took great pride in helping colleagues advance their careers. As an adjunct professor for more than twenty years, Terry taught college courses in humanities, art history, and critical thinking. He inspired his students to think deeply about the world around them and pursue their goals.

Terry mentored his children with empathy and love throughout their lives. As their soccer coach for twenty seasons, Terry taught his children sportsmanship, teamwork, competitiveness, and that failure is only a learning opportunity. Terry continued to cheer on his children as they aged and began their own careers and families. While offering his advice, he ensured that his children knew he was proud of them and their accomplishments.

Terry traveled the world with his favorite travel partner, his wife of forty years, Mary. His adventures extended to five continents, including Antarctica and Africa. In his travels, Terry collected bracelets, necklaces, and scarves. He always wore his bracelet “stack” and had a scarf ready to complement any outfit. He honed his photography skills through his travels, creating and capturing stunning landscapes, portraits, and nature scenes. As a music lover, he delighted in attending concerts throughout the U.S. with

friends and family. In retirement, Terry pursued his interests in watchmaking and political activism.

Terry adored being “T-Pa” to his grandson Ryland and delighted in watching him grow. He eagerly anticipated welcoming a second grandson later this month, which brought him great happiness in his final days.

Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ryland Healy of forty years; his daughter, Rachel Healy and her husband Richard Morrison; his son, William Healy and his wife Casey Healy; his grandson, Ryland Beck Healy; his brother, Christopher Healy and his wife Diane Healy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Terry was a brilliant intellectual, an endlessly curious learner and a creative thinker who approached every challenge with energy, determination and excellence. His curiosity was contagious. Whether discussing philosophy over coffee, planning the next adventure, or helping someone solve a difficult problem, he inspired those around him to think bigger and dream farther. His quick wit and sense of humor brought laughter to family gatherings and friendships alike. His legacy lives on through the countless colleagues, students, friends, and family members whose lives were enriched by his mentorship, generosity, and love.

As a final act of generosity, Terry gave the gift of sight through the donation of his corneas to the Lions Medical Eye Bank and Research Center of Eastern Virginia.

In accordance with Terry’s wishes, a private family service will be held, and a celebration of Terry’s life will be announced at a later date.
