Timothy Lee Fosque

Timothy was educated in the Accomack County Public School system and continued his higher education at Saint Leo University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Management.

Timothy and Regina were childhood sweethearts, and the bond they formed in their younger years grew into a lifelong love and commitment to one another. On February 5, 1968, Timothy married Regina, the love of his life. Together, they embarked upon a journey that would span more than five decades. They were blessed to share 58 years of marriage, building a life together through the joys and challenges of raising a family, military life, assignments around the world, retirement, and the many seasons of life they shared.

A Distinguished Military Career

Just ten days after their marriage, on February 15, 1968, Timothy entered the United States Army during the height of the Vietnam War. Answering the call to serve his country began what would become a distinguished 30-year military career.

From his beginning as a private, Timothy steadily rose through the enlisted ranks, ultimately achieving the distinguished rank of Command Sergeant Major. Throughout his career, he served in numerous Noncommissioned Officer leadership positions and demanding assignments around the world, earning the respect and confidence of those with whom he served.

Among his many assignments were service with the 3rd Squadron, 5th Cavalry, 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam; the United States Army Ordnance Center and School at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Fort Eustis, Virginia; the 213th Helicopter Company, “Black Cats Chinook,” in Korea; the 1st Battalion, 145th Aviation Regiment at Fort Rucker, Alabama; the 2nd Battalion, 229th Attack Helicopter Regiment, “Flying Tigers,” in Saudi Arabia; and assignments in Germany.

One of the significant achievements of Timothy's military career was his service as Brigade Command Sergeant Major of the 12th Aviation Brigade in Germany. His distinguished career culminated with an assignment at the United States Army Aviation Logistics School at Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Timothy believed in continued professional growth and completed numerous Noncommissioned Officer educational courses. His military education culminated with his graduation from the prestigious United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 33, at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was also awarded the Master Aircraft Crewmember Badge, recognizing his extensive aviation experience and expertise.

In March 1998, after 30 years of honorable military service, Command Sergeant Major Timothy Lee Fosque retired from the United States Army, leaving behind a proud legacy of leadership and dedicated service to a grateful nation.

Life After Military Service

Following his retirement from active military service, Timothy continued his service to the United States Army as a Training Technician.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Timothy was a devoted family man. He took great pride in providing for his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His family was an important part of his life, and the example he set through his strength, leadership, wisdom, and commitment will continue through the generations that follow him.

A Man of Faith

Timothy gave his life to Christ at an early age, establishing a foundation of faith that remained with him throughout his life. He became a faithful member of First Baptist Church Denbigh on August 4, 1996, where he served faithfully in several ministries.

In November 2002, Timothy was ordained as a Deacon and faithfully served in that capacity until his health no longer allowed him to actively perform his duties. Even as his health declined, his faith remained steadfast, and he never gave up his belief and trust in God.

The Man We Knew and Loved

Timothy was not only a leader in uniform; he was a mentor and a source of wisdom to his family, friends, and countless others whose lives he touched. He was respected by those who took the time to listen to his words of wisdom—and Timothy had a way of making sure you understood exactly what he meant.

One of his favorite expressions was, “That dog won't hunt.”

Those who knew Timothy knew exactly what that meant! If he asked you a question, you had better know what you were talking about because Timothy expected you to have your facts straight.

That was Timothy—direct, wise, confident, and never afraid to tell you what you needed to hear.

Timothy was also an avid sports enthusiast who especially loved the game of baseball. He was highly competitive, and anyone who stepped onto a racquetball court with him knew they had better be prepared to play. Timothy played to win—and more often than not, he did just that.

His strength, wisdom, humor, leadership, faith, and love for his family will remain treasured memories for all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

His Legacy

Timothy leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife and childhood sweetheart of 58 years, Regina; three sons, Timmy (Christine), Darrin (Charmaine), and Corey (Michelle); and seven grandchildren, Standrick, D'Andre, Isaiah, Soleil, Noah, Ian, and Emanuel.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, William (the late Margaret), Fannie (the late Harold), Gwendolyn (Larry), Regina, Robbin (Eldridge), Oleatha, and Marneda (Mersha); his sisters-in-law, Josephine Fosque, Alice Conquest, and Elvary Hayes (the late Richard); and his brother-in-law, Kevin Conquest (Denise).

He also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends, church family, and military comrades.

Timothy was preceded in death by his beloved grandsons, Timmy and Kingston; his brother, Clifton; and his brother-in-law, Larry Conquest.

Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Timothy Lee Fosque lived a life of service—to his country, to his church, to his family, and to others. His was a life well lived, a race well run, and a legacy of faith, love, leadership, and service that will continue through the generations that follow him.

The family will receive friends for a Visitation that will be held at First Baptist Church Denbigh, Sanctuary, 3628 Campbell Rd., Newport News, VA, on September 4, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The Homegoing Service will take place on September 4, 2026, at 11:00 am, followed by Interment with Military Honors on September 4, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Virginia.
