

Tommy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Glenda Snider Newberry; son, Gordon and wife, Ramona of Surry; daughter, Tammy and husband, Rick of Hampton; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Florence Wiedman and Ruth Fortune of Michigan; brother, Frank and wife, Joan of London, Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Sylvia Lawson Newberry; sisters, Nancy Marcum, Patricia Brewer; and brother, Danny Newberry.
Tommy spent time in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a QID Nuclear Inspector in the Newport News Shipyard for 37 years. He was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of and loved the Newport News Church of the Nazarene.
The family will receive friends 12:00 to 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Newport News Church of the Nazarene. A celebration of Tommy’s life will begin at 2:00 pm at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
