Warner Marvin Bass

Warner M. Bass passed away peacefully at his home on March 31, 2020 in Hampton, Va. He was born on December 9, 1938 in Ettrick, Va to Claude and Mildred Bass. He spent most of his childhood and youth in Newport News, Va where he would go on to graduate from Warwick High School with the class of 1958. Warner retired as QID supervisor from Newport News Shipbuilding after 30 years of service and until recently, was active in the Elks and Moose organizations. Warner was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in his yard. He is predeceased by his parents, Claude and Mildred Bass; wife, Betty; and brother, Payton Bass. He is survived by his daughter, Veronica Smith (Jim); grandchildren, Chloe and Corbin Smith; his sweetheart of 30 years, Anna Bittner; and her children, George Babb (Gail), and Karen Babb. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Warner’s final resting place will be at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, Va.
