

Warren was a graduate of Alden Central High School in 1959, after which he attended the University of Kentucky and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1967. After graduation he was commissioned in the United States Army and served a storied career of 24 years. Warren was a highly decorated soldier with tours to the Vietnam War, Korea, Jordan, England, Germany, and several stations around the United States. He served as a helicopter pilot, infantry man, and professor/Commandant of Military Science for Indiana University of Pennsylvania and William and Mary University. While in the Army, he achieved his Masters of Guidance at Georgia Southern University in 1972.
Upon retirement from the United States Army he began another career as a guidance counselor and mentor at Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia, becoming the Director of Guidance shortly after. While there, he coached varsity and junior varsity wrestling teams. Warren went on to coach wrestling at Phoebus High School in Hampton,Virginia.
While at Bethel High School Warren was responsible for obtaining scholarships for those students who, without his assistance, would not have achieved their higher education goals.
Warren Kempf was a man of God, leader of men, coach and counselor to young adults, trusted friend, fierce competitor, athlete, father,husband and all around amazing man.
Warren is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Kempf; son Erik Kempf; daughter-in-law, Robin Kempf; grandchildren, Aaron Kempf, Zachary Kempf, Leigha Kempf; son, Christopher Kempf; daughter-in-law Tashia Kempf; granddaughter, McKenna Jones; and two brothers, Norman Kempf and Gary Kempf.
