Wayne L. Rice

Wayne went to live with Jesus on May 16, 2015. He was born on September 6, 1941, to Doris and Wayne R. Rice. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Polly Lane Rice; his older son, Jay, Jay’s wife, Tracee, and their daughter, Sara, of Yorktown, VA; and his younger son, Paul, of Chesapeake, VA.

Wayne attended schools in Hampton until the beginning of his Jr. year in high school when he moved to Richmond, VA. He graduated from Hermitage High School in Richmond but remained a lifelong Crabber football fan. He, also, loved watching the Washington Redskins and the Atlanta Braves. He loved family vacations to Disney World and Nags Head.

In the 60’s, he worked at the Newport News Shipyard and was in the Army Reserves. He retired after 30 years of service from the Newport News Waterworks—Engineering Department.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton.

Visitation will be Friday, May 22, 2015, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton at 2551 N. Armistead Ave; graveside service will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made in Wayne’s memory to Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton or The National Parkinson Foundation.
