William Arthur Batten

He was a resident of Hampton for most of his life, retiring from Riverside Hospital after 27 years of service. After retiring, he had lived with his sister, Elouise in Georgia where he was a member of United Fellowship Baptist Church.

Willie is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents, Lessie and James Batten; brother, Ervin; and sister, Beulah Stearns. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Dettwiller and husband, Robert, Debbie Howell, Connie Bland, Judy Granger and husband, Wilson, and Teresa Brown. Surviving sons are Arthur, Steven and wife, Judy, and Michael Batten and wife, Cheryl. There are 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Surviving sisters are Elouise Edenfield, Lucille Rollins, Ann Arnold and husband, Tom; and one brother, James Batten and wife, Pat.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17 at 11:30 a.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
