William Daniel Furr, Jr.

William Daniel Furr, Jr., 73, a native of Norwood, North Carolina and a 53 year resident of Hampton, died at home on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was the Prep Center Shop Manager at Casey Chevrolet and retired after 38 years of service in November of 2002.

William was preceded in death by his parents William D. Sr. and Alma Plyler Furr; his brothers and sisters, Lee Roy, Idell Skinner, Gertie Creed, Paul, Albert, and William (Bill).

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 29 years, June Turbeville Furr; son, Charles Furr; step-sons, Freddie Long, Harold Grainger, Bobby Grainger and Auty (Buck) Grainger; step-daughter, Donna G. Suits; brother, Homer Furr; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of William’s life will be held Monday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
