William Stanley Gaskins

William S. Gaskins (Skip) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on December 22, 2016. Skip was born on December 28, 1945 in Elizabeth City, NC, and was a life-long resident of Hampton, VA. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling as well as volunteering at West Hampton Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and life-long member. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in 2006 after 40 years of service.

Skip was the son of the late Edward and Vertley Gaskins. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Betty S. Gaskins; son Christopher Gaskins (Jason Frye); daughter Cindy (Darrell) Ames; brothers Don (Pat) Gaskins and Alan (Patty) Gaskins; beloved granddaughters Leslie and Kelsie Ames, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother Ed Gaskins.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at West Hampton Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to West Hampton Baptist Church Industrial Park Lunch Ministry.
