William Lloyd Lowe, age 86 of Hampton, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2014. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born outside of Richmond on February 6, 1928. The youngest of nine children, he was raised in Maryland by his mother and stepfather, Chris and Cora Crisman. He served his country in the Army and was a veteran of World War II in Europe. Returning home, he went to work for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore. Later in his career, he worked his way up as a Computer Systems Analyst for the Department of Defense and retired from Fort Monroe. He married the love of his life, Delores Thomas on April 30, 1949 and together they had two daughters, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Bill served faithfully in many ways at Parkview Baptist Church. He taught junior boys in Sunday School, as a deacon and church trustee. He and Delores believed very strongly in missions - taking Christ's love outside the church walls locally and to the world. His gift was that of an encourager and always had a sense of humor and positive outlook.
He is survived by his wife, Delores; two daughters, Sharon and her husband Dave, and Joyce and her husband Neal; four grandchildren, Billy, Megan and her husband Chris, Matthew and his wife Miranda, and Christy; and great granddaughter, Kaylee.
The family would like to thank his long term caregivers, Gerona Neubia and Jamie Washington for their devoted care.
A celebration of his life will be held at Parkview Baptist Church on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11am, with Pastor Rusty Beck and Chaplain Joe officiating. The family will receive friends at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home October 23, 2014 at 6pm.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Alzheimer’s Association and Parkview Baptist Church.
