William "Bill" Burdette Scouten Jr.

William "Bill" Burdette Scouten Jr., passed away on April 15, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughters, Lindsey and Sydney; mother-in-law, Pearl Davis; his father, William Scouten, and his siblings, Andrea and Howard Scouten.

He was a Master Shipbuilder at Huntington Ingalls and instrumental in creating the BBB Bass Club to support the joy of fishing as a group. In his teen years he was on multiple athletic teams and pursued Judo, winning many 1st place state titles and 2nd place at the Nationals for the Jr. Olympics. He was a candidate for the Olympics in 1984.

He met his wife Deborah in the summer of 1981 and they have been together ever since. They were married for 39 years. He was very supportive in her many endeavors. he was extremely proud and supportive of his girls in basketball, volleyball, and dance. He even cut their performance music and performed with them in the nutcracker. He helped ensure both of his girls graduated from their colleges with high honors.

Family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday, April 24, 2023 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. A celebration of life will be held 12:00 PM, Tuesday, April 25, 2023. Interment to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666.
