He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pauline, two daughters; Rebekah Snider of Hampton and Holley Snider of Carolina Beach, N.C.; two grand-children Julia and Daniel Whelan of Hampton and one sister, Donna Snider of Tampa, F.L. His extended family of loving cousins was an extremely important part of his life.
William was a retired Major in the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War, Korea and Japan. He was a combat wounded Vietnam Veteran and a recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman Badge. Upon retiring he worked in property management, as a substitute teacher and devoted grandfather. William loved his family, fishing, golf and spending time with his family in Hatteras.
A celebration of William's life will be held at 3 p.m.on April 30, 2015 at First United Methodist Church-Foxhill.
