Yvonne Michelle Powell, born on November 8, 1965, is survived by her husband, Phillip Powell, and their daughter, Tymesha Cobbs. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Akiyah and Ariyon Joyner; her siblings, Mary Saunders (Robbie), Althea Scales, and Kevin Cobbs. She was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Smith, and three brothers; Charlie, Anthony, and David.
A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, Yvonne was employed at the Norfolk Navy Shipyard as a janitor for many years. She was known for her candid nature and her loving, compassionate spirit. Yvonne was consistently willing to assist others in their time of need. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, possessing a generous and kind disposition.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in the chapel. A celebration of life funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, reception and fellowship to follow formal services, location to be announced. Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia, will be Yvonne's final place of rest, and burial will be private.
