Alice was a very active woman with her family throughout the years. For a few years she was employed as an LVN at the Kings County Hospital located on Lacey Blvd. She would support her daughters with countless hours volunteering and helping out the Girl Scouts. Volunteering was a family affair and with the help of volunteers they helped build the Girl Scout camp at Tamarack Ridge. Alice enjoyed the outdoor adventures and taught her children how to fish. She loved to go camping with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and anyone who was willing to go along for the trip. She was brave enough to endure camping trips with 6 or more children to oversee on her own for a week or two in duration. Alice was a good artist, photographer and best of all a great cook. When she cooked her gravy it was never enough. She had the recipe for an exquisite gravy, which everyone looked forward to eating on Thanksgiving Day. On her spare time playing a game of cards was never out of the ordinary. Alice was good and definitely enjoyed having the upper hand.
Alice has left some fond memories with her three children Sharlene Allen & husband Jack of Visalia, Rodney Bairstow & wife Sue of Hanford, Lynne Hiltgen & husband Douglas of Hanford. She is also survived by brother in law Lew Forbes of Madera Rancho. Six grandchildren Aaron Bairstow, Jarrod Allen, Brent Allen, Scott Bairstow, Thiese Freitas, Joshua Hiltgen and nine great grandchildren Kathryn Bairstow, Ally Clague, Rebecca Clague, Megan Bairstow, Kabria Allen, Blake Freitas, Sophia Allen, Quinn Bairstow and the last one awaiting arrival.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings Joe Jones & Ada Forbes.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel. Family and friends may visit www.peoplesfuneralchapel.com to view her legacy, send condolences and flowers to the family.
