Anita Cortez Marquez

Born on October 1, 1948, Anita attended Redwood High School and went on to build a long career as a guard with California Corrections, from which she retired. Throughout her life, she left a lasting impression on many people who came in and out of her life.

Anita is remembered by her brothers, Martin, Raymond, Ellias, and Guadalupa Marquez; her sisters, Adella Lopez and Yldefonsa Aguirre; her sons, Manuel Vasquez, Jose, and JJ Gonzales; her daughters-in-law, Beth Vasquez, Casie and Kira Gonzales; her grandchildren, Dylan and Evan Vasquez, Nick, Eve, Jacklynn, Kaydence, Leigha, and Lucas Gonzales; and her great-grandchildren, Arayah, Melodey and Asher Gonzales, Alyleen Iniguez-Gonzales, and Diana Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Angela Marquez, and by her brothers Johnny, Jess, Alfred, Hector, and Cruz Marquez.

Those who knew Anita will remember her love of camping, fishing, baking, hiking, growing plants, and birds. She shared what mattered to her with others, teaching many about life, God, fishing, baseball, and being good to your neighbor. She tried not to hold a grudge because life is short, and her house was always open and welcoming to anyone in need.

A celebration of life will be held to honor Anita's memory at the FRA Branch 261 Club, located at 788 E D St, Lemoore, CA 93245, from 4 pm to 7 pm on September 4th. Attendees are encouraged to bring memories and stories of Anita to share, celebrating the profound impact she had on the lives of many.

Anita Cortez Marquez will be remembered with respect and affection by those whose lives she touched.
