Barbara Ann Pulley was born in Madill, OK on July 11, 1941. She was the 1st of 6 kids born to Ewell and Vercie Staton. When she was 6 after the crop, her parents were farming failed, her family moved to CA. Eventually settling in the small farming town of Firebaugh. Her father built their home by hand piece by piece. They never had much materially but she had a good life. She learned to cook and sew at a young age. She attended elementary school in Firebaugh where she made lifelong friends. Then attended high school in Dos Palos where she had a knack for business. She graduated at the top of her class in 1959. In 1960 she married and started her family in Avenal where she lived for many years. She had her 2 sons Colin and Damon, 13 years later her daughter Erin came along. She and her husband had several businesses that she ran along with rental homes. She also ran tax services and worked as a waitress in a couple of restaurants. She was known for her amazing cooking. She loved to make large meals for family and friends, always hosting the holidays because her house was the place to be. Her door was always open and you never left hungry. She bragged that she got her 1st blender to make margaritas.
After her divorce, she and her daughter moved back to Firebaugh. She then began studying and became a baptized Jehovah's Witness. Her faith was always strong and never wavered. In 1995 she took a position as an Apartment Manager in Coalinga. Everyone that knew her loved her. After 9 years in Coalinga, she suffered a stroke and retired. She moved to a retirement community that she loved and made many friends there. After her health continued to fail she moved to a convalescent home where she finally found peace. Barbara was loving and caring. She always did her best to make you feel comfortable in her home. She never met a stranger or someone she wouldn't talk to. She was loved by everyone who crossed her path.
A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 1st from 12:30-4:00 p.m. at the Veteran’s Hall; 411 W. “D” Street, Lemoore, CA 93245.
