Clay was born in Chula Vista, California on October 15, 1961 to Lynn and Gay. Being a Navy brat, he moved around a lot growing up. His family settled in the Logan, Utah area. He entered the Navy at seventeen, completing four years of military service with an Honorable discharge as a MM3 serving aboard the USS Turner (CG-20). Clay then began a 29-year career as a processing engineer in the cheese making industry.
Clay was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock crawling, wood working, metal working, and working on jeeps with his friends. Clay could take the most ordinary ingredients and turn them into a five-star dish that any chef would be proud of. Clay had a can-do attitude about everything; there was no challenge that he was not willing to take on. Clay may have had a shorter than average lifespan but he did not live an average life. He traveled where he wanted to travel; he laughed inappropriately every chance he got; he learned what he wanted to learn; he would fix what he wanted to fix; and he loved who he wanted to love.
Clay is survived by his wife Kim of 22 years and their boys, Tyler, Spencer, and step-son Nick (Lauren); his daughter, Lori (Tim) and son Michael from his previous marriage; his three grandchildren, Haley, Nicholi, and Owen. Clay is also survived by his father Lynn (Connie), brother, David (Carolyn) and his sister Lynda; nephew, Chris (Cindy) and uncle, Guy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gay and sister, Lori.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, March 21st at 1pm at People's Funeral Chapel, 501 N Douty St, Hanford, CA 93230.
