

Passed peacefully on March 16, 2021, Diana was 73 years old. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her son Vincent, daughter Melissa, grandchildren Brooke, Stone, Sienna, Stockton, daughter-in-law Sonia, and siblings Joey and Ruth “Cookie”. Preceded in death by husband, Ben, siblings Raymond and John “Larry”, and parents John and Virginia Lopez.
Diana was employed for over 30 years for the Kings County Human Services Agency in the In-Home Supportive Services Department, beginning in an entry level position and promoting to a Supervisory position, in which she retired. Diana enjoyed her work due to the fact that she could assist others while also providing a social aspect to the customers with which she worked.
Being the oldest of four children, Diana was accustom to enjoying time with family, whether it be holidays, birthdays, or a family BBQ, you could find her socializing with family and sharing stories. It also helped that she was an excellent cook and baker; thus her dishes were always wanted at these family gatherings, especially her potato salad. She also enjoyed the many family vacations, especially in the early years. Diana also found joy in attending and supporting her children and grandchildren at various school and extracurricular events.
Ben and Diana, were married for over 52 years and now she is reunited with the love of her life. They both lived a great life, filled with love and created a family which will continue their legacy and memories. Loved by all those closest to her and admired and inspired by those who knew her, Diana Velo will surely be missed but never forgotten.
