Dino Stanley Garcia, age 58 of Hanford, California passed away with his Mother, sisters and caregiver (right hand man) at his side on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning, California.
He was a lifelong resident of Hanford and attended Kit Carson Elementary and Lakeside Elementary School where he graduated in 1969. At age 14 he was diagnosed with Fascioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy. After graduating from Hanford Joint Union High School in 1973, he became involved first as a camper, then as a Camp Counselor at Camp Mountain High for the United Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy association for several years where he enjoyed working with children and adults who also suffered from Muscular Dystrophy. Dino was a compassionate, loving, strong willed man who was determined to maintain his independence and freedom. These attributes helped him through many of the obstacles he encountered in life.
He enjoyed keeping busy and had many interests. He was the family” photographer” who took pictures of special people and places as is evidenced by his collection of photographs. Yosemite and Sonora were among his favorite places to visit and camp. He had a ‘green thumb’ for gardening and the outdoor surroundings he created included beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. As an avid vintage car enthusiast he enjoyed attending car shows in his 1966 Mustang. He could be found weekly at the Farmer’s market in Hanford where he visited with friends and family. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Dino is survived by his parents, Clarence J. Garcia Sr. and Mary A.(Nunes) Garcia of Winchester, California, brother, Clarence J. Garcia Jr. of Hanford, sisters, Liz Brenner and her husband, John also of Winchester, Alice M. Moore, and her husband, David of Alaska. His Nephew and God Son Matthew A. Moore of Alaska, Joshua A.
