Dorothy Lou Belcher Barker

Dorothy was born to Ruth Esther Belcher on April 14, 1934 in Bethel, Oklahoma. Dorothy peacefully passed away on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Adventist Medical Center in Hanford, California. Dorothy was a Homemaker for 22 years. She has been a resident of Coalinga, California for the past 11 years. Dorothy was always an “Okie” at heart, she was proud to be from Oklahoma. Dorothy was a huge fan of the Oklahoma Thunders basketball team and the Oklahoma Sooners football team; she also really enjoyed the San Francisco 49’ers. She was passionate about listening to country music, playing video slots, bingo, crocheting and especially cooking for her family. Dorothy found true comfort and companionship in her little Yorkie; Suzie for 10 years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother; Ruth Belcher and her beloved husband of 22 years in 1990; John Barker. She will be truly missed by her four loving children; Ricky Holmes of Coalinga, California, Pamela Holmes-Smith and husband Anthony Smith of Avenal, California, Ronald Holmes of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Wren K. Barker of Coalinga, California. Dorothy also leaves behind her dear brother; Carlos Belcher of Willows, California. Dorothy was a proud grandma to her three beautiful grandchildren; Rudy Moralez of Avenal, California, Ronald Holmes, Jr. of California and Dylan Holmes of Jonesboro, Arkansas. She also left her two very precious great-grandchildren; Nicholas Moralez and Amber Moralez both of Avenal, California.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Grangeville Cemetery; 10428 14th Avenue, Armona, CA 93202 559-924-3439.

Services are under the direction of People’s Funeral Chapel.
