On June 12, 1929, Tony and Mary Brown welcomed their only daughter, Elda, in Lemoore, California. The family moved to Hanford shortly after.
Elda lived in Hanford all of her life and attended local elementary schools and graduated from Hanford High School in 1947. Shortly after graduation she went to work for Bank of America for several years.
Elda married and had 3 children, twin sons Michael and Stephen and daughter Carolyn. In 1958, Elda went back work as a bookkeeper for Cornforth Tractor Co., which later was sold to Oscar Dominici and Sam DeSantos and became Dominici Ford Tractor Co. Elda worked there for 28 years until Oscar and Sam decided to sell the business. She retired for a short period and then ended up going back to work, driving to Fresno to work at Kovac Equipment where she worked for many years. Later on she went to work part time for Myra Kovac at Hanford Equipment as the bookkeeper. Elda worked every Friday and every other Wednesday until she became ill in July.
Elda was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church of Hanford, Past President of Lemoore Eagles Auxiliary, long time member of S.P.R.S.I Council #57 and P.F.S.A Council #15, and was past treasurer of P.F.S.A. Council #15.
Elda was very independent and a hard worker. Her children, family and friends were a very important part of her life. Elda would always talk about the time she and Clara Galletti took a month long trip traveling across the United States, stopping and seeing many places.
Elda will be best remembered for her Christmas Enchiladas, that her children, grandchildren and friends would look forward to every year, working and watering her big yard. Her rose bushes and cats were her pride and joy.
Elda is preceded in death by parents Tony and Mary Brown, her son Stephen Oliveira, and her brothers Edward Brown and Richard Brown.
She is survived by her son Mike Oliveira and wife Mary Ann of Auberry, daughter Carolyn Oliveira-McCann of Hanford; her only living brother Andrew Brown and wife Shirley of Hanford; 7 grandchildren, Christopher Oliveira and wife Danelle of Santee, CA, Mikelene Raymond and husband Barrett of Springville, UT, Sabrina Dias and husband Tony of Tulare, Marty Oliveira and Wife Sandra of San Antonio, TX, Curtis Oliveira and companion Hatti Figge of Brooklyn, NY, Daniel Oliveira and companion Melissa Alvarez of Claremont, CA and David Oliveira and wife Shelley of Pasadena, CA; 13 great-grandchildren with one more on the way as well as many close family and friends.
