Virginia Marie "Ginger" Parsons, 68 was born November 14, 1947 in Hanford, California to Troy E. Price and Ethelyn E. (Bontrager) Price. Ginger was Troy and Ethelyn's second daughter. Ginger's older sister was Patsy Lynn, which preceded Ginger in death along with her parents.
Ginger graduated from McCloud High School, class of 1965 in McCloud, California.
In 1972, Ginger married for the second time. She married a member of the United States Air Force, Michael J. Parsons. Because of Michael's position with the Air Force, Ginger and Mike traveled to several locations in the United States and Canada. It was during their time in Canada from 1975 to 1977 that they had two children, Troy Joseph and Shane Michael. The family was stationed at several locations including Seattle, Washington and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After their divorce in 1981, Ginger moved with her sons from Oklahoma City to Boise, Idaho to be near her sister. Ginger enjoyed having a large family and did everything that she could for her sister, brother-in-law, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She had cousins that she referred to as “sisters”. Ginger just adored her grandchildren. Shane and his wife Jennifer gave her a granddaughter, Stephanie Nicole and a grandson, Cameron Michael. Troy gave her a grandson, Troy Boone Jr. and a granddaughter Holly Madison. When Troy married Bea last year, Ginger gained 7 grandsons.
Ginger's career gave her some opportunities to work with computers in the 1970's and 80's. She spent some time with the IBM Corporation.
Ginger attended her 20 year high school reunion in 1985 and reconnected with friends. It was then that she decided to bring her boys back to the area that she grew up in to raise them. She loved the beautiful scenery and the small town culture where everyone knew one another and a helpful person was always around.
After her sons left the McCloud area to attend college and start their families, Ginger did some more traveling and spent some time near Las Vegas and eventually settled down in California's central valley to be near family again. She was once again “getting into trouble” with her cousin/sister JoAnn Martin and her “favorite” uncle, Uncle Billy.
Ginger had a passion for dancing. She taught dance classes at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in San Francisco and she loved to attend her granddaughter Stephanie's dance recitals.
Ginger passed away in Hanford, California, back where it all started, on Monday, March 28, 2016.
The family will hold private services at a later date.
