Her friends called her Yvonne. She was a mother to two sons; John and Michael who each have two children. John’s are Samantha and Alexis and Michael’s are Magnum and Ciara. She was a very caring, loving mother & grandmother and enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren as often as she could. She was always delighted to hear about the achievements of her children and grandchildren.
Yvonne is survived by her older brother Melvin and younger sister Sharon.
She was most proud of her early career as an Executive Secretary to high level Engineers at Kaiser Engineering. Later on she started a daycare for infants which she found very rewarding. She found immense joy in playing such an important role in the lives of young people in her care.
She attended high school in Novato, California. She was married in Seattle, Washington and had her first child “John Wayne” nearby in Yakima, Washington, before moving to Alamedam, California and having her second child “Michael George”, where both children were educated through college.
Yvonne really enjoyed the outdoors with hobbies such as; white water rafting, camping, shooting, motorcycling and parasailing. In contrast to those activities she also loved flowers and gardening as well as sewing and painting.
Yvonne was diagnosed with MS in 1983. This began a long journey with many challenges. She battled this insidious disease through physical deterioration that took her through a walker, a wheelchair, and finally into a bedridden state. She was tenacious and never quit fighting. If you could describe her in one word it would be “indomitable” because her sprit was never broken even to the very end.
