OBITUARY

Jackie Salinas Balderama

June 25, 1933January 9, 2020

Dad was born on June 25, 1933, to Josephina and Mariano Balderama.

He was the youngest of 10 children. As a child Dad enjoyed competitive sports. His favorites were baseball, basketball and high jumping.

Dad lived a full life in which he achieved and accomplished his dream. He married our mom, Terry in 1952. He was drafted to the Army soon after and served his country for 2 years.

Jack and Terry have 4 children: Loretta, Anthony, Jackie, and Valerie. In 1979 Jack and Terry moved to Orosi where they purchased a 16 acre property, built their home and began Dad’s dream of farming. He grew various fruits, such as oranges, nectarines, grapes and much more. This lead him to sell at farmers markets in the LA area. His fruit was nominated the best around. Dad was sociable and personable with his customers. He took interest in anything they shared with him. Dad was very well liked by all his customers. His venture grew and his two oldest children helped run the markets. Jack and Terry worked very hard side by side and took great pride in their farming business. Dad worked on his farm, until he became ill and could no longer work.

Dad was an amazing man with a huge heart. He was a great mentor to us. He had strong family values and always gave us good advice. We admire him for who he was and for the values he passed on to us. He taught us to be honest, work hard, have respect for others, and especially to honor our mother.

Dad always bragged about Mom’s cooking. He would always say, “Terry’s cooking is the best.” He always appreciated how well Mom took care of him, and how she always made sure he was well dressed.

Dad and Mom always seemed to find time to travel on many cruises and fly to different parts of Mexico with his best friend Pete Alfaro and his wife Sheila.

The last 3 years Dad suffered with CHF, but even then he still had his funny sense of humor. He took the time to take us kids individually to see where he grew up. He showed us his hometown, the schools he attended and where he lived and played sports. Those are very special memories we will always treasure.

In Dad’s last two days of life, he was surrounded by his loving wife and 4 children holding his hand and making sure he was comfortable until he went peacefully. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Dad we truly miss you. We feel so empty and heart broken. You will forever be in our hearts.

Dad is looking down with a smile, no more pain, no more suffering, and no more hospital. He is home with our Lord and family.
