James Matthew Matias, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024 at the age of 83. He was born February 12, 1941 to Steven and Margaret Matias in Crabtree, Pennsylvania. James grew up in New Jersey and has been a resident of Hanford for the last 50 years.

James was passionate about many things, he especially adored his grandchildren. He loved spending time in the mountains and on the beaches of the coast. He also enjoyed fishing and was an excellent carpenter and handyman. He worked over 40 years with his brother at John Matias Construction; previously he worked as a truck driver for Diamond Lumbar and at Candlewick Yarns. For many years, James has been a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and the Freemasons of Hanford.

James leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Brenda; daughters Kimberly Matias of Florida, Bobbi Jo Matias of Oregon and Jamie Matias and Cheri Mayhew of South Carolina; sisters Betty Watson of Las Vegas, NV and Peggy Lambert (Larry) of Las Vegas, NV; 6 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services are September 24, 2024 at 10:00 am at First Southern Baptist Church Hanford.
