Janet was born on September 3, 1944, in Hanford, California, to Franklin Loyd Hodges and Johnie Lois (Hopkins) Hodges. Her family originally lived in Corcoran but relocated to Hanford after the devastating flood of the early 1940s. She attended Hanford elementary schools and later graduated from Hanford High School.
A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Janet was a devoted member of First Christian Reformed Church in Hanford. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She looked forward to every opportunity to attend church and worship alongside her church family.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7
Janet was known for her compassionate heart, gentle spirit, and dedication to both her family and her community. During the early 1970s she worked in Sunnyvale, California. From 1972 to 1976, she lived in Georgia, where she worked for Kmart and later managed a Krispy Kreme. In 1976, she returned to Hanford to devote herself to raising her children and caring for her elderly father. She also worked for a time in the Weapons Department at Naval Air Station Lemoore.
Above all else, Janet treasured her family. She loved bringing everyone together and found her greatest joy in family gatherings filled with laughter, conversation, and love. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved most. Her kindness extended beyond her own family, as she was always willing to help elderly neighbors and others in her community whenever she saw a need. Her quiet generosity and caring nature touched countless lives.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Loyd and Johnie Lois Hodges; her brothers, Lloyd Hodges and Kenneth Hodges; her sisters, Kay Wright, Norma Boogaard, and Irene Wilson; and her beloved grandson, Johnny Nail.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Bob Henshaw, Kevin Henshaw, and Janet Nail; her grandchildren, Robert C. Henshaw, Kevin R. Henshaw, Robin Henshaw, Sarah Henshaw, Darren Greaser, and Lindzie Nail; her great-grandchildren, Luke Henshaw, Faith Nail, and Preston Greaser; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we rejoice in knowing that she is now in the presence of the Savior she faithfully loved and served throughout her life.
