Jerry was born in Lodz Poland to Jacob Philip Sojfer and Sylvia Kurtner Sojfer a holocaust survivors. The after math of World War 2 forced the family to move to Israel, after a period of time his family seeked an opportunity to relocate to the United States, and the family settled in Patterson New Jersey. Jerry graduated with honors in high school and attended a University for a brief period of time until he had to stop and help his parents. He then got a job in a store as an electronic salesman; he was once awarded one of the best sales in the East Coast and held clients as high as the NFL.
He striked an interest in the medical field from an experience in his personal life and began to pursue a career as a paramedic and later enlisted in the US Navy for 26 years as a Corpsman and received many awards and achievements upon his retirement.
After the navy Jerry went into sales until a life changing injury forced him to retire and work with his wife at the Fresno Bee. Meanwhile Jerry became a member of the Republican Party of Kings County Central Committee 3rd District and an avid volunteer at the headquarters and The Thursday Night Market as a faithful registry voter.
He resided with his wife, children and grandchildren until his final days. Jerry lived a full life filled with stories of memories to share.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Silveria and his daughter Ivy and son in law Scott. Jerry will also be deeply miss and remembered by his two greatest grandchildren Brian and Brice. Jerry was preceded by his longtime friend and Brother Tom Hertel
A Visitation will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at People's Funeral Chapel; 501 N Douty St, Hanford, California.
