Ken lost his dad when he was 12 years old with just him and June still at home, he became the man of the house learning responsibility early on. Ken was given his nic name at birth from his Dad, he was a small baby and his Dad said Look at that little Dude! The name stuck for a lifetime.
When Ken was 17, he joined the U S Army but was quickly kicked out because they found out his age. He then waited until he turned 18 and joined the US Air Force and was honored to serve and become a Korean War Veteran. Ken was the sole provider for his mom and sister June, this ensured a steady income to take care of them and serve his country.
Ken met and married the love of his life JoAnn Pusley, they had many adventures together.
They worked as a good team raising the 1st three kids then the 2nd three kids, of course the first 3 will always believe the last three had it made, life was good.
Ken’s work led him to many places, so the family got to experience living from the Southern California beaches to the hot Central Valley. Ken worked in Alaska on the pipelines for a period, settling in the Hanford and Lemoore area where he worked on building Naval Air Station Lemoore. Here is where he raised his family, out on the Ranch of L.E. Hansen Farms.
Ken loved his sports, you could hear the ROAR on Sundays with his yells for the teams along with his boys during football season.
Ken’s sister June said: “I talked a lot with Dude on the phone in past years, just keeping up with the Oklahoma softball and football teams, and our families. But I will miss him and these short talks each time he called.”
Ken lived in Hanford with his son Kerwin and another son and daughter in law next door, Galen and Cindy. They were there for his advanced years.
Ken was on the go most days loving his time with family and spare time at the Tachi Casino with friends. The last few months had hindered his ability to get up and go with the illness of cancer setting in. The family changed their life schedules to make sure Ken was cared for at home, this was his wish, and it was honored. Ken took his last breath leaving the loving arms of his family in peace and back into the loving arms of his wife JoAnn, he will be dearly missed.
