Larry Gene Baze Sr.

Larry Gene Baze, Sr. was born to Charles William & Lilla Estelle (Gothard) Baze on March 14, 1944 in Orr, Oklahoma. Larry passed away on September 30, 2012 in Hanford, California. Larry graduated from Gonzales High School in June of 1962. On January 26, 1963, Larry married the love of his life Doris Jean Richardson in a beautiful church service in Salinas, California. He retired from the tire industry after 20 years as a Supervisor. He had worked for Firestone Tire Plant in Salinas, California as a Foreman until they closed down. He worked many various jobs until 1983, when he accepted the Foreman position in Hanford, California for Armstrong Pirelli Tire Company. In October of 1984, Larry purchased a home with his wife in Hanford and moved the family to the valley. In April of 1985, the love of his life; Doris passed away. Several years later Larry was hired in the produce industry at 3D Cooling by his nephew; Jack Dewbry for about 15 years before retiring in 2009 on his birthday! Larry battled lung cancer for a period of time, however through excellent treatment from The Cancer Center in Hanford as well as his Oncologist; Dr. Bryson in Visalia, Larry went on 2 years cancer free… Larry’s life passions included; spending time with his family every chance he got, going to horse races and any casino for gaming. He loved meeting new people all the time, Bar-B-Quing, riding on the golf cart watching his boys play golf. He also loved to travel and some of his favorite trips were visiting with his brothers and sisters when possible and cruising in his corvette.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; Charles & Lilla “Estelle” Baze and his wife of 21 wonderful years; Doris Baze. He also was preceded in death by his brothers; Sonny Baze & Bill Baze and his sisters; Lu Edna Baze & Janette Baze.

Larry is survived by his loving children; Rick (Christine) Baze of Lemoore, CA, Teresa (Orin) French of Lemoore, CA, David (Karla) Baze of Salinas, CA and Larry Baze, Jr. of Lemoore, CA. Larry was blessed and enjoyed 8 wonderful grandchildren; Daniel and Kelly Baze of Salinas, Hailee and Maddison French of Lemoore, David “D.J.” and Kourtney Baze of Salinas, Bailey and Breanna Baze of Lemoore. Larry also leaves behind his sisters; Betty Ruth Yates of El Centro, CA Evelyn Piercy of Chular Canyon, CA and Charlotte Rivera of Yakama, WA and Brother Donald Baze of Salinas, CA.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. all at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-5591 with Burial to follow at Hanford Cemetery; 10500 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-3937.
