He was born in Goshen and moved to Hanford as a child. He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel & Mary Bettencourt immigrants of Pico , Azore Islands, He was a lifetime member of the KC Gun Club. He owned a small ranch in Southern Hanford & worked for McMahan’s for 37 years, after retirement, he worked at Golden Corral.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved first granddaughter, Kelly Marie Thurlow in 2000 He leaves his wife Viola of 65 years, a son Dale Bettencourt & Daughter, Jacci Bettencourt Thurlow.
He also leaves grandchildren Kama Bettencourt & family, Misty Thurlow Mills (Erek), Dustin Bettencourt (Jocelyn), Chelsea Bettencourt Krause (Josh) Great grandchildren include Mateo Woodburn, Michael Thurlow Mendonca, Bucko Mills, Janie D’Angelo & Jensym Bettencourt.
Memorial Services will be held at People’s Funeral Chapel., 501 N Douty St., Hanford CA 93230 on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 @ 10:30 am Followed by reception at Elks Lodge
