Lester was born on August 24, 1928, in Berwin, Oklahoma to Dave and Arlena Robbins. In the late 1940s, Les travelled with his family and settled in California.
At age 18, Lester went to work for Clawson's Trucking, where he worked until he was drafted into the Army in 1950. Lester entered the Korean War as a Heavy Equipment Transport Driver, delivering munitions to the front line.
After his tour of duty, Lester returned to the United States and met Reba Ramer, the love of his life. They married on November 12, 1955, in Las Vegas, NV. Lester and Reba made their home in Stratford, CA, where they lived for 11 years. While in Stratford, they had their daughter, Leslie, in 1957 and their son, Michael, in 1964. In 1966, the family moved to Hanford, where Les continued his truck driving career until he retired in 2000.
Lester enjoyed traveling across the United States with Reba in their RV, as well as up and down the California countryside with the Cross Country Gypsy RV Club. Many good times were had, and fond memories made, on these trips. Lester was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Hanford.
Lester will be remembered always as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a caring servant of his country. He is survived by his wife, Reba Robbins of Hanford, CA; two children, Leslie Thompson of Hanford and Michael and Stacy Robbins of Clovis, CA; four grandchildren, Jamie Frazier of Nipomo, CA; Kevin Thompson of Visalia, CA; Jenna Robbins and Jessica Robbins both of Clovis, CA; and a niece, Martha Nelson, of Stratford, CA.
A graveside service will be held at the Lemoore District Cemetery on Monday, January 12, 2015, at 2:00 PM.
The family would like to pay thanks to Lester's caregiver, Kenneth Hamilton, for his kind and loving support.
