at Adventist Health in Hanford Ca. She was born July 8, 1952 in Berkeley Ca. to Lewis and Ila
Walden.
In 1978, (only 4 years after the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act) at the age of
26, Linda joined the U.S Army Reserve. She proudly and honorable served her county for 6
years. Her military service included Medical Specialist and Operation Room Specialist in the US
Army. After her time serving her country she went on to serve her community. Linda began
working for the Nevada Department of Prisons in 1985. In 1986 and 1988 Linda was awarded
the Northern Nevada Correctional Center Uniform Employee of the Year. Also, in 1988 Linda
was awarded Outstanding Service-Outstanding Officer of the Year. Linda became one of the
first women K-9 Handlers for the Nevada Prisons.
In 1976 Linda gave birth to her first son, Daniel Steadman. In 1983 she had her second
son, Timothy Steadman who went on to serve and honor his country in the United States Navy
and his community as a law enforcement officer. Linda married Stephen Scott in 1998. They
were married until his death in 2007.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Ila Walden and her husband
Stephen Scott. She is survived by her sons Daniel Steadman of Nevada and Timothy Steadman
(Linda) of California.
Services will be held September 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Fernley, Nevada at Northern
Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations we ask that you take a moment to
