Madeline was born to the late John M. Correia and Mary Mello-Correia February 3, 1934 in Centerville, CA.
On May 25th 1952 she married Joe Perry Rose. On March 8th, 1970, Joe had left this
earth and left behind a wife and six children. Madeline at 36 years old raised all six children by
herself. In 1975 Madeline married the late Frank Garcia.
Although never finishing the 8th grade, Madeline had self-taught herself many different
talents like being a seamstress, upholsterer, cooking, baking & her famous cake decorating
making beautiful cakes for her family and friends. Madeline was an amazing seamstress and
upholsterer, using her talents she would make numerous items like curtains with matching
bedspreads, car seats, boat seats and even clothing for her family, including men’s suits and even
wedding dresses. She was proud to be a "Jill" of all trades. Madeline was also a devoted
housewife, mother, stepmother, vava, visava, and friend to many, including being a part of many
Portuguese Organizations.
Madeline is survived by her six children, daughter Madeline & Danny Hill of Hanford,
daughter Maryann Schinzler of Visalia, son Joe A Rose of Hanford, daughter Marlene & Rodger
Collins of Hanford, daughter Diane & Oratio Smith of Hanford, daughter Julie & Donald White
of Armona, her 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren and 3
stepdaughters, Judy Garcia of Bakersfield, Julie Garcia-Maxwell (Wayne) of Oregon, and
Annette Thurman (Kevin) of Madera, CA. and step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces nephews, relatives and friends. Madeline was
also a great godmother to many, especially Janet Beard of Gustine, Ca.
Madeline is survived by siblings, Joe M. Correia of Hanford, Mary Anderson of Oregon,
Alice Herrera of Hanford, Albert M. Correia of Hanford, also sister in-law Maryann Correia of
Merced. Madeline is joining deceased siblings, John M. Correia, Manuel M. Correia, Frank M.
Correia, Evelyn M. Correia, along with brother in-laws Andy Anderson, and Ralph Herrera in
heaven.
Madeline's legacy will live on for her love to share and teach her self-taught talents and
recipes of rice pudding, stuffing, Hanford spaghetti, as well as home cured green olives with
loved ones and family as her health declined she never questioned her faith in God.
Madeline’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the care their mother received at the Hanford Post-Acute from their doctors, nurses and staff.
