Manuel James (Jim) “Fuzz” Braz went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Manuel was born on August 10, 1926 in Lemoore, California to Joseph and Maria Braz. He was the third eldest of his six siblings. Manuel was married to Jackie (Moore) Braz for 65 years. During their marriage, they had four beautiful daughters.

Manuel grew up on a small dairy farm where he worked alongside his three sisters and two brothers. During those years is where his work ethic and devotion to family emerged. Manuel attended Grangeville Elementary School and Hanford High School. He joined the United States Navy to serve his country during World War II. After his service, he came back to Hanford and started working at State Market and then Food King until his retirement.

After his retirement, he found himself a bit restless and started working at B&P Liquor until his early 70s. Outside of work, he was a dedicated member to his bowling league until he was 90. All the family has many fond memories of Manuel “Fuzz” getting ready on Thursday nights to go bowling. He made everlasting friendships and memories during his years on the bowling league. He was an avid hunter and went on annual hunting trips until he was 88. Manuel was a talented woodworker. His creations included bookshelves, tables, sofas and much more. If there was something that he needed, he would create it. He was a man in constant motion.

He is predeceased by his wife, Jackie, parents: Joseph and Maria Braz, sisters: Mary Thomas and Laura Durant- VanKeuren, and brothers Joseph Braz and John Braz. He is survived by his loving four daughters: Michelle Robbins (Kurt Gray) of Montrose, Colorado, Janet (David) Duncan of Bakersfield, CA, Cheri (Eric) Kinser of Danville, Illinois, and Veronica (Michael) Haile of Hanford, CA; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Russell; sister-in-law, Doris Braz, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Manuel was known for his sense of humor, jokes, and dance moves. You could always find him working in his shop or on a ladder (even when he should not have been). He was able to make friends anywhere he went. He loved to have fun and enjoyed a good party. His smile, kisses and hugs will not be forgotten.

The family would like to thank Jan and the staff at Diamond Terrace and Jeanine at Adventist Health Hospice for loving and caring for Manuel. Private services for Manuel will be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A Funeral Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

I am so sorry to hear about Manuel's passing. I met Manuel and Jackie at our Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary. Jackie used to play the organ and both my wife, son and I shared some time with both of them. When we needed someone to sponsor our son to be the "padrino" (Godfather), Manuel stepped right into that role. We visited both at their home and he showed me pictures of Hanford from the 30's and 40's. When I told him my brother came to visit us in Hanford and complained about the smell (dairies), Manuel would say "I smell money"! May the Peace of the Lord always be with you and Jackie. We miss you both dearly...

RIP Uncle Manuel. Your smile, laughter and uncanny ability to make others laugh will all be missed!! I will forever have memories of you with my dad Jesse, talking about bowling. As well as the many stories that my mom shared about growing up with you, your brothers and sisters...family is and was always important to you- May God comfort your family during this difficult time. Elaine, Janet, Cheri, Veronica and families, we are so very sorry for your loss and please know our thoughts and prayers are with you. I have so many memories of Manuel and I can say, your dad really knew how to have fun. He loved to dance, party and joke around. He could be funny, mischievous and kind all at the same time and from your memorial, it looked like he lived a very full and happy life. He will be missed!

God bless you
