Manuel Martins Sousa

Manuel was born to Francisco Martins & Amelia Leal (Lima) Sousa on March 21, 1924 in Fontinhas, Terceira, Azores. Manuel went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2017 in Hanford, California.

Manuel had been a resident of Hanford for the last 49 years while milking and working on a local dairy. He truly enjoyed watching the bullfights and attending the festas and especially eating the delicious Sopas meal at the festas. His real passion however, was his time spent with family, he loved each moment.

Manuel is preceded in death by his beloved wife; Maria Elvira Sousa, his son; Raul Dos Santos Sousa as well as his grandchildren; David Lourenco & Brittany Sousa.

Manuel is survived by his loving children; Helio Sousa of Hanford, Frank & Amelia Lourenco of Tulare, George & Melinda Sousa of Hanford and Joe & Fatima Brasil of Visalia, CA. Manuel leaves his grandchildren to cherish his memory; Teresa Lewis of Clovis, Jason & Heather Brasil of Hanford, Stephanie & Kenney Marroquin of Visalia, Cindy & Sam Johnson of Porterville, George Sousa, Jr. of Hanford, Ashley Sousa of Armona, CA and Elizabeth Sousa of Lemoore, CA. He will be dearly missed by his great-grandchildren; Jesslyn & Raymond Herrera of Armona, Mark & Brittany Sanchez of Lemoore, Kylie, Collin, Joey & Jordan Brasil all of Hanford, T.J., Kaleb, Seth & Cole Johnson of Porterville, Kiersten Marroquin of Visalia, CA, Jacob Lewis of Sacramento, Nicholas Lewis of Fresno and Victoria Lewis of Tulare, CA.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6th from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary & Funeral Mass combination at 10:30 a.m. all at St. Brigid Catholic Church; 1001 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA with Burial immediately following at Calvary Cemetery; 11680 S. 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230.
