With heartfelt sadness, the family of Manuel Bernardo Vieira announces his peaceful passing at home in Hanford, California, on September 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Manuel was born on March 15, 1935, in Praia da Vitória, on the island of Terceira, Azores, Portugal.
Manuel worked as a dairyman for most of his life—a profession that reflected his dedication, work ethic, and love for the land. Outside of work, Manuel found joy in the simple, meaningful things: fishing, tending to his garden, and most of all, spending time with his family. Whether it was playing cards with his siblings, nieces, and nephews, or sharing stories, laughter, and jokes. He brought warmth and happiness to every gathering.
His greatest joy was having his entire family together. Holidays and birthdays were treasured times, surrounded by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
Manuel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maria Juvelina Vieira, his 4 children, Frank (Rebecca) Vieira, Rosa Lewis, Marie (Eddie) Van Allen, and Paul Vieira. His siblings Jose (Ana) Vieira, Fatima Serpa, Alice Bettencourt, Fernando Vieira, 13 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews in California, Massachusetts, and Azores, Portugal.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Manuel Bernardo Vieira, Mother, Rosa dos Santos Esteves, Sister, Maria Filomena Silva, Brother, Luciano Vieira (survived by his spouse Filomena Vieira).
