Margaret Ann Matheney

Margaret Ann Matheney passed peacefully, at home, on February 1, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was 78 years old. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, lovingly known as GG.

Margaret married her high school sweetheart, Ronnie Derel Matheney, in 1962. She was sadly widowed at the tender age of 23.

Margaret loved crafting, crocheting, sewing and cooking. She shared these talents with her children and grandchildren, teaching them these skills and instilling in them a love of creating beautiful things. She was especially well-known for her baking and candy-making. She was active in her church, utilizing her many talents in fund-raising activities. Margaret was also known to step in and give sermons, when asked. She lent her beautiful singing voice at church, at home and on long trips in the car.

As a single mother of 3, often working multiple jobs, she always managed to find the time and finances to take her family on trips. Her favorite places to spend family time were at the beach and Disneyland. She also enjoyed taking them to the Caruthers Fair, which gave her the opportunity to talk about her time and graduation at Caruthers High School.

Margaret is survived by daughters Patty (Jose) Morado, Tammy (Earnest) Ware, her son Anthony (Bridget), grandchildren Lisa (Rudy) Fernandez, Derek (Julie) Ware, Bianca (Walt) Nimitz, Meagan (Sean) Bray, Jessica and Joseph Morado, Jordan and Jayden Matheney, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, 3 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Ronnie, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Margaret loved and was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, March 4, 2022, at People’s Funeral Chapel, 501 N. Douty St., Hanford, CA 93230. A light refreshment will be provided at the Chapel, but there will be no repast.
