I was saddened to see Marilyn's obituary. I was a child when she worked with my mom at HUHS, and Don coached my brother in basketball. I would often run into Marilyn at Best Buy Market, and we would quip that we had to stop meeting like this, because it meant that we were spending money. She was a beautiful, gracious woman with a genuine heart. Prayers and thoughts for all of the family.

To the whole Davis family, we were so sad to hear of Marilyn's passing.  She was a beautiful lovely lady who showed us many kindnesses throughout the years we lived in Hanford.  We hope she had an easy passing and know she is at peace.

I have so many fond memories of Marilyn. She worked out of our home as the secretary of Kings County Air Conditioning for nearly 25 years and she was truly a part of our family. Both of my parents worked full-time, so after school and during the summer, I spent a lot of time with her. 

As a young girl, I was so fascinated with being a secretary! I loved playing with all the office equipment, office supplies and pretending to be just like her. I was always told not to get in her way and stay out of the office, but when Buck wasn't home, Marilyn would let me play! I can still see my young self, sitting down at the table (her desk,) and Marilyn teaching me how to type on a typewriter! She taught me how to load the paper, hit the space bar and go to the next line. I was a terrible typist and I used a TON of her white out typing strips (they don't even make those anymore!), but she was always so patient with me and made learning to type, fun. 

Probably the best skill Marilyn taught me was how to write a check! Marilyn taught me how to use the olden days machine where you put the check in and adjust the buttons to the correct amount and then pull the handle. The numbers were embedded on the paper and that was your check. I had SO much fun making checks with Marilyn. I guess I've always enjoyed spending money! Ha!

After school, I rode the bus home or when I was older, I walked home. If ever I missed the bus or if it was too hot, too cold or raining, I would call Marilyn. Marilyn, can you please come pick me up? This was always such a big treat for me! I still remember when she got a new car. I called her to pick me up just because I wanted to go for a ride in her new car! This was a BIG NO NO! I wasn't supposed to call Marilyn for rides, but when I did, she always kept our secret and she never told Buck! 

Marilyn also taught me to play cards. She taught me to play blackjack and we played many, many, many games! One summer Marilyn taught me to play gin rummy and we had an ongoing card tournament and we played for pennies. I still remember sitting cross legged on the floor, with our jars of pennies, playing cards. Not sure who won our tournament, but I feel like the winner just to have that for a memory. 

Another summer favorite of ours was watching Regis and Kathy Lee. We weren't happy at all when Kathy Lee left the show and was replaced with Kelly Rippa  but she began to grow on us! It's funny how things stick with you because I still like to start my morning watching that same show, which is now Kelly Live. 

One of our after school or summer past times was baking. Marilyn, can we bake a cake today, I would ask. Marilyn would always say YES! We made countless cakes together and if wasn't for her being home with me, I probably would have burned the house down! The best part of baking with Marilyn was when I would eat too much of the cake batter, she would say, now we have to make cupcakes! 

I had to chuckle during her services when someone mentioned how she didn't like to get her hair wet! I always had an infatuation with doing Marilyn's hair! Marilyn, can I do your hair today? Ok, but don't get it wet, she would say. So, a curling I would go! She would sit there so patiently and let me make a mess of her hair. My goal was to always give her a full service. I desperately wanted to wash, dry and style her hair!!! She always said you can't do it! It's too hard!  Boy, was she right! She had very thick and wavy hair, that I never could style right, according to her.  I still remember how thrilled Marilyn was when her son, Chris, started dated Deanna because she could style her hair just the way she liked it!

Life is funny and history has a way of repeating itself. Many years have passed since I was a little girl playing secretary, playing cards, watching Regis and Kathy Lee and baking cakes (or sometime cupcakes!). I'm now a grown-up secretary, still writing checks, watching Kelly Live and baking with my daughter. I even play solitaire on my phone at night before I go to bed. So, I guess all those days and special memories with Marilyn, live on and they will always hold the most special place in my heart. 

Marilyn was such a beautiful woman. Always dressed so perfect and groomed so neatly. She enjoyed so many things in life. She always talked about golf, tennis, playing bridge, but the thing she loved most was her home and her family. Thank you Don, Linda, Randy (Mark), Chris (Deanna) and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for sharing Marilyn with me and my family.

I was sad to hear of Marilyn's passing but I remind myself that she is now where she feels no pain and is running through a field of flowers with no worries.   She had a good life.  Praying that you will be comforted at this difficult time.

What a beautiful picture of Marilyn- she was a beautiful woman.  Her appearance was always picture perfect.  We shared many happy times- playing tennis when our sons were little, taking them with us to ride their big wheels!  Going to Fresno to get our ears pierced, stopping at the fortune tellers in Selma on the way.   We put the boys in the seat behind us and went bike riding a lot of evenings.  We played golf at different golf courses.  Played tennis at West Campus and the Club.    We always had a great time, with lots of laughs. 
Her family was always very important to her.  She provided a well kept home and food on the table for 3 meals a day.

My deepest sympathy for the passing of Marilyn.  She was a friend, neighbor, bridge partner, golfing buddy ----- she will be missed.  Condolences to all of her family!

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Mrs. Davis. The most extraordinary legacy that can be left by a parent is the life they lived and the children that they raised. Given the fact that her unconditional love for her family and dedicated to her family was clear. She lived a full and loving life. May God bless her into His Kingdom and bestow peace on those left behind.
