Mary Janell Morris

Mary Janell (Nell) Morris passed away July 22, 2023. She was born August 14, 1935, in Wade, Ok, the daughter of Iman C and Ada Emmaline Buford, the 10th of 12 children. Mary graduated from Albany High School Albany, Ok, in 1953 and lost no time in moving to California to be closer to three of her sisters. In 1954 she married Curtis Morris of Armona CA, and they moved to Taft, CA. They had one daughter, Carol Ann. Many years later they moved to Armona, CA. They both taught Sunday School, Mary helped in the classroom at the elementary school and she and Curt operated a gun shop. Curtis passed away in 2001, and Mary continued to reside in Armona until her death. She enjoyed her grandchildren, Cassie, Shawn and Matthew and her great grandchildren, Caleb and Chloe. Mary was a very strong, independent woman, who loved reading, working in her yard, and was an amazing seamstress. For many years she belonged to a writing group and has written many stories and poems, mostly about her family and her life experiences.

One thing I loved about Mary, my aunt, was you could talk to her about anything and receive bits of her "life's wisdom" and no judgement from her. Her passing is the end of an era as she was the last of her siblings.

Mary is survived not only by her daughter and her extended family but a great many nieces and nephews and their extended families as well. She was loved and will be missed greatly
