

Mary was born in Sweetwater, Texas on January 27, 1923 to Pablo and Paulina Gonzales. Her family came to Riverdale when she was a small child where she attended schools in Riverdale and Caruthers, graduating from Riverdale High School in 1941. Mary was working at the dime store in Riverdale when she met Noel Edward Singleton. They were married in January of 1943 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Riverdale. Noel and Mary purchased the Laton Hardware Store in the 1970’s and worked side by side for over 30 years, retiring from the store in 2006. Mary was a faithful member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church of Laton where she was a member of the Altar Society and the choir. She was an excellent cook, famous for her enchiladas and tamales with her potato salad running a close second. Mary especially enjoyed times spent with family and family gatherings. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew and loved her.
Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Kix and her sister, Isabell Garcia.
She is survived by loving husband of 68 years, Noel of Laton; three sons, Edward Singleton and wife, Darla of Nebraska, Paul Singleton and wife, Billie of Hanford and Eric Singleton of Hanford; her daughter, Kristine Carr and husband, Thomas of Lemoore; her brother Manuel Gonzalez of Indianapolis, IN; three sisters, Esther Garcia of Fresno, CA, Lou Wigglington of Turlock, CA and Irene Richardson of Clovis, California; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and many friends.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Laton on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Fatima of Laton on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton.
