It is with great sadness that the family of Mike Bezera announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the age of 70 years.
Mike, also known to some as “Mickey”, will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Harriett and their six children; Bobbi (Mike), Bill, Mike (Denise), Lisa, Amy (Woody) and David (Wendy); his twelve grandchildren; Jennifer, Richard, William (Callista), Brent, Jonathan, Melissa, Trina, Miguel, Megan, Justin, Ashley and Tyler; nine great-grandchildren; Brandy, Nicholas, Taylor, Melanie, Morgan, Madison, Richard, Rylee and Castiel; his two sisters; Kathe Carpenter (Ron) and Doris Lewis. Mike will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; Mike and Hope Bezera, brother; Patrick, and grandchildren; Kristina and Christopher.
Mike lived his entire life in Hanford, attended St. Rose McCarthy Catholic School and graduated from Hanford High School in 1961.
Mike began a career as a Firefighter and became Deputy Sheriff and Investigator for Kings County before he retired in 1980. Mike turned his life-long hobby of woodworking into his post-retirement career and opened his own business, “Bezera’s Furniture Repair” in Armona in 1980. In 1990 he went to work for the Department of Corrections and worked both at Avenal and Pleasant Valley until his second retirement in 2000. Mike also spent time working as a Funeral Assistant at People’s Funeral Chapel. Mike was a member of numerous organizations, including the Kings County Peace Officers Association, Hanford Fraternal Hall, the Elks Lodge, Cabrillo Club and Lemoore Golf Course Board of Directors. For many years, Mike volunteered for Kings County Special Olympics.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the South Valley Community Church; 1050 W. Bush Street, Lemoore, CA 93245. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at the Hanford Fraternal Hall; 1015 N. 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230.
